Diving in the Deep End Creative Development Program

Through the Diving in the Deep End Creative Development Program, MPAC fulfils its commitment to telling local stories by developing new works across a range of genres that celebrate the people and place of the Peel Region, with at least one of these works being focused on the Nyungar community of Mandurah and the Peel.

Diving in the Deep End projects include artist’s residencies, workshops that support both creative and professional development, and commissions of new works that might premiere at MPAC.

MPAC is open to approaches from local, Perth-based, national or international artists in developing a Diving in the Deep End project.

To date Diving in the Deep End projects include:

• The Accordionist residency project with Scott Craig & Tracy Harrington working with Pulse WA, funded through the Regional Arts Fund of Country Arts WA;
• Driving into Walls with Jon Sheedy & Suzie Miller of Barking Gecko Theatre working with local young people towards a verbatim show to premiere in March 2012;
• Stalker Stilt Theatreworkshop with Pulse WA in stilt walking and break dancing towards a work-in-progress showing at the Stretch Festival, funded with support  from the City of Mandurah and MPAC.
