Agatha Christie's "Witness for the Prosecution" is a gripping courtroom thriller.

Leonard Vole, accused of murdering wealthy widow Emily French, who left him her fortune; his only hope is his enigmatic wife, Romaine, but she turns into the prosecution’s star witness, revealing a shocking, double-layered twist.

A wealthy, aging woman, Emily French, is brutally murdered in her London home, with all signs pointing to Leonard Vole, a charming but shiftless young man she’d recently made the beneficiary of her estate. Leonard Vole maintains his innocence, claiming he was home with his wife, Romaine, the night of the murder, a former actress, who he believes will provide his alibi.

Everyone expects Romaine to defend her husband, but in a stunning turn, she testifies for the prosecution, presenting damning evidence and seemingly sealing Vole’s appointment with the hangman’s noose.  Just as Vole seems doomed, his defence team come by some surprise evidence, which looks like turning the tide of the case………until the surprise plot twist, culminating in one of Christie’s most famous endings – where justice is subverted by passion and deception.
