Terms and Conditions – MOVING LIFE  9×5 ART AWARDS 2026

Please read the following information carefully before submitting your application.

Key Dates:

  • Artist call out & registrations open: 10th June – 7th July
  • Entries close & last day to collect boards: Tues 7th July (registrations close 12pm midday, box office closed 4pm)
  • Artwork delivery: Wed 15th July, 10am-4pm
    Please deliver to Alcoa Mandurah Art Gallery –N.B: Box Office is unable to accept artwork.
  • Opening event: Friday 24th July, 6pm (including announcement of awards)
  • Exhibition dates: 24th July – 21st August
  • Collection of all unsold work: Tues 25th August, 10am to 4pm

Terms & Conditions:

1. Eligibility

The MOVING LIFE – 9×5 ART AWARDS 2026 is open to all artists. City of Mandurah and Mandurah Performing Arts Centre staff and board members can enter but are not eligible for any Prizes.

2. Prizes

Open Category:

  • First Prize $2000
  • Second Prize $1000
  • Third Prize $500
  • Highly Commended $250

Youth Category: (16 years & under)

  • First Prize $250

3. Mediums (Specifications/ Criteria for 9×5 Painting)

Entries for the MOVING LIFE – 9×5 ART AWARDS 2026 may be paintings in any medium, including oil, acrylic, watercolour or mixed media, including collage and 3 dimensional artworks. Digital, electronic and photography will not be accepted. The artwork can be in any orientation i.e. landscape or portrait – the only other requirement being that the artwork depicts the theme Moving Life.

4. Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Entrants must disclose any use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools in the creation or development of their submitted artwork. Where AI has been used, entrants must provide a brief description of how it was incorporated into their creative process, including the AI platform(s) used.

Failure to accurately disclose significant AI-generated content may result in disqualification

5.  Entries

Entries open: 1.00pm Wednesday 10th June 2026.

Entries close: Midday Tuesday, 7th July. Please note that entries received after the closing date and time will NOT be accepted. No late changes will be accepted.

6.  Artwork Specifications

  • Works must be on 9×5 inch mdf boards, supplied only by Alcoa Mandurah Art Gallery — no other material
  • Any artwork not completed on boards supplied by MANPAC cannot be accepted, and no correspondence or dispute will be entered into.
  • Wet paintings cannot be accepted.
  • Works must be unframed with no attachments for hanging. No frames.
  • Clearly label the artwork with title, artist’s name and artists details on label on the back.

7.  How to Enter

Entering the MOVING LIFE – 9×5 ART AWARDS 2026 has three steps:

  • Register – Fill out and submit the online form (10th June to 12pm midday 7th July).
  • Collect your official 9×5 board from Box Office or have it posted to you. Post $10 additional charge.
    • Pick up Boards from Mandurah Performing Arts Centre BOX OFFICE. Post to you: +$10.
  • Artwork Delivery: 15 July: 10am to 4pm. This takes place at Alcoa Mandurah Art Gallery only (deliveries will not be accepted at the box office).

8.  9×5 Boards

Boards can be picked up at the Box Office, Mandurah Performing Arts Centre, Ormsby Terrace, Mandurah WA 6210. Hours: Mon to Friday 10AM to 4PM. (08) 9550 3900 or posted to you for $10. Please make sure to get your board early enough to create your artwork before the deadline.

Boards will not be sent via Australia Post after 18th June, 2026.

9.  Entry Fee

  • $20. Only one (1) board per artist. $10 Postage if required.
  • In accordance with Australian Consumer law, refunds will not be provided for change of mind, incorrect purchase, or inability to complete artwork/attend.

10.     Number of Entries

A maximum of one (1) entry per artist.

11.  Process of Selection

Nominated Judges will select the winners for the exhibition prior to the exhibition opening 0n 24th July 2026. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence or dispute will be entered into by the judges.

12.  Delivery of Finalists’ Artwork for Exhibition

  • Finalists’ original artworks must be delivered Alcoa Art Gallery, Mandurah Performing Arts Centre on the 15th July: 10am to 4pm
  • No late entries
  • Artworks are to be hung in the Alcoa Mandurah Main Art Gallery

13.  Sale of Artworks and commission

Artworks/ entries will be offered for sale. A 33% commission applies to all artworks sold, with proceeds returned to the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre. The sale price indicated on the entry form must remain fixed throughout the exhibition and should include the commission, GST (if applicable) If an entry is not for sale, please mark it clearly with NFS on the back of the artwork and on the entry form.

If artwork is for sale, entrants must declare an ABN or that they are a hobby artist for ATO purposes. No entries can be accepted unless one of the selections are made.

14.  Reproduction of Images

Mandurah Performing Art Centre (ManPAC) reserves the right to use the digital images of artworks entered in the MOVING LIFE – 9×5 ART AWARDS 2026, and photographs of artworks in the exhibition, for the purposes of publicity, documentation and cataloguing in paper, digital and electronic format.

15.  Privacy

Personal information collected will only be used for the purposes of the MOVING LIFE – 9×5 ART AWARDS 2026 or ManPAC promotion and will be held by the administration staff of ManPAC. View our Privacy Policy & Collection Notice

16.  Ownership

Entries must not be the property of a third party.

17.  Exhibition Period

Finalists’ entries must remain on display for the entire exhibition period, from July 24 to 21 August 2026. Artists must collect their unsold artwork on 25 August 2026 10am to 4pm. The gallery will take no responsibility for artworks after this time

18.  Insurance

Artists are responsible for insuring their artworks against theft and damage during transit and throughout the exhibition. ManPAC will take all reasonable care but will not be responsible or liable for any loss or damage.
