PRISMATIC – SOLO EXHIBITION – DEBORAH BONAR
Mandurah Performing Arts Centre is excited to present PRISMATIC, Deborah Bonar’s first solo exhibition in over 10 years.
Curated by Lotte Waters, PRISMATIC explores the evolution of Bonar’s artistic practice, tracing how her visual language, techniques, materials and influences have developed over time.
Deborah Bonar is a Gija and Yamaji woman. Her English and Italian heritage also influences her exploration of identity, self, home and belonging, becoming an integral part of her art practice.
An award-winning artist, Bonar has major public art commissions, with her work held in public and private collections. She is also a renowned workshop facilitator.
The exhibition showcases key stages of her artistic journey, beginning with earlier works which represent the foundations of her practice and provide an important starting point for understanding how her work has evolved.
PRISMATIC also introduces new experimental works that have not been shown previously. Some works are highly detailed and layered, while others return to a more minimal approach, relying on the strength of a limited colour palette and simple compositional elements. Together, these works begin to suggest the future direction of Bonar’s practice.
In addition to the exhibition, Deborah Bonar will present a series of presentations demonstrating her painting practice on site at ManPAC. Dates to be announced !
