Our Rough Draft Youth Theatre had the exciting opportunity to collaborate with Youth Radio from West Coast Radio.
Emily joined the group to introduce hosting and podcast opportunities, and to guide our young performers through recording short spoken links and voice-overs in a real broadcast-style environment. For many of the participants, it was their first time stepping into a radio studio setting, offering a valuable insight into how performance skills translate into broadcast media.
The session gave our young performers a chance to experiment with voice work, timing, clarity, and presence in a completely different performance context. It also encouraged confidence in speaking to an audience beyond the stage, while working collaboratively in a fast-paced, professional environment.
Opportunities like this are an important part of the Rough Draft Youth Theatre program, helping young creatives build practical industry skills while exploring new forms of storytelling and expression.
We’re incredibly grateful to Youth Radio for supporting this collaboration and giving our young performers such a positive and engaging experience.
