Young Mandurah performer receives John Bell Scholarship prize.
To coincide with Bell Shakespeare’s performance of Twelfth Night at ManPAC in August 2023, four young performers from around Australia were offered a chance to develop their skills with Bell Shakespeare’s professional artists in Sydney.
The John Bell Scholarship (JBS) is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for students living in regional or remote areas who are interested in a career as a performer. Interested students auditioned and worked with a professional Bell Shakespeare artist, receiving feedback and direction. Only Four students are selected from across Australia to come to Bell Shakespeare HQ in Sydney and spend a week training with the Company.
We were delighted to hear that Mandurah local Daisy Axon had been selected to join Bell Shakespeare in Sydney, and even more thrilled to receive the following kind words from Daisy and her father, John….
“I would just like to say thank to Mandurah Performing Arts Centre, my daughter Daisy took part in an event by Bell Shakespeare and auditioned for the John Bell Scholarship with them, hundreds took part around the country and amazingly Daisy was one of 4 selected to go to Sydney for an amazing experience at their headquarters. The scheme aimed to give budding young actors from the regions a chance at having world class tuition and training from the best” – John
“Thank you so much Mandurah Performing Arts Centre! I had the most wonderful time with Bell Shakespeare indeed! Words cannot describe how grateful I am for the incredible support and thoughtfulness that I have been shown from MANPAC!” – Daisy
