Barracking for the Umpire

What are we willing to sacrifice for the great game?

Following a standout Perth season in 2022, Barracking for the Umpire is set to embark on a regional tour in Western Australia for 2024, and Mandurah is fortunate to be included on the tour.

This family drama tackles head-on the fragility of the human body and the impacts of footy on our players, our family, and our community.

Donnybrook Football Club is set to honour its greatest son – Doug Williams.

Hard as flint. Salt of the earth.

Wife, Delveen, by his side, riding every bump with him. Feeling every head knock.

All the kids are flying home to join the celebration.

But after years of the game he loves, the sure hands of Williams are starting to fumble the ball.

    • ★★★★½ “Highly entertaining yet heartbreaking.” The West Australian
    • ★★★★½ “A cracking script that is full of Aussie slang, yet poignant and beautiful.” Limelight Magazine
    • “A moving but funny production about football and family. Touching on a number of serious issues, this first play by Andrea Gibbs is relatable and quintessentially Australian.”  Stage Whispers

Join Black Swan and Barracking for the Umpire writer, Andrea Gibbs, with the cast on Saturday 1 June for a post-show discussion and Q&A of this award winning family drama.

For every ticket sold ManPAC will donate $2.00 to FightMND. A wonderful charity that raises money for research into Motor Neurone Disease, a disease for which there is currently no truly effective treatment and no known cure. We thank you for your purchase and helping us raise valuable funds for this important cause.
