So begins the story of a dutiful cicada who works away in a grey office year after year.
Overlooked and unappreciated by his co-workers, Cicada keeps his secrets hidden until the day something truly extraordinary begins to happen…
Winner of the Children’s Book Council Award for Best Picture Book in 2019, this new stage adaptation brings master-storyteller Shaun Tan’s much-loved Cicada to life with exquisite puppetry and visual storytelling by some of WA’s leading theatre-makers.
A small story of epic proportions, Cicada is an enchanting tale of difference, resilience and the light we all have inside ourselves.
Prior to the 6.30pm performance on August 23rd, children can come and make their own Inner Insect from modelling clay, and take it home with them. If you’d like to take part in making an insect please arrive at least 45 minutes prior to the show. We’ll also have a Cicada Cut out that people can have a photo with along with a colouring in station. It’s going to be fantastic fun!
