Face Value is more than an exhibition of faces; it's a journey that one man is taking to let go of perfection, to go beyond what sits on the page to understand the remarkable healing and therapeutic benefits that the arts can unlock, when you're brave enough to share your work with the world.

Face Value

This exhibition features work by a local artist with a long-standing connection to Mandurah Performing Arts Centre. Although he has chosen to remain anonymous for this exhibit, he was one of the founding members of the Act One Drama group — part of ManPAC’s Art of Wellbeing programs. We’re excited to highlight his artistic talents and celebrate our ongoing connection to him as both a local artist and valued member of our community.

We first came across the artist’s work through his support staff, who shared his sketchbook with us — a collection of inspiring line art portraits. Through ongoing collaboration with the artist and the nurturing support of his team, we’ve had the privilege of exploring each page, where surreal, artistically abstract, and utterly compelling faces come to life.

The artist, while initially lacking some self-confidence, has been overwhelmed by the look of the final exhibition. We hope that through this process and the feedback he receives from everyone who views the work, his confidence in his creative talents will continue to blossom.
