Plein Air Down Under – Outdoor Painting Festival
Leading Australian outdoor painting festival Plein Air Down Under returns to Mandurah from September 25th to 27th. Come and paint or come and watch!
The Plein Air Down Under outdoor painting festival is an exciting event with 150 artists scattered throughout the Mandurah Ocean marina, cultural precinct and the nearby historical town of Pinjarra, a daily ‘wet painting’ competition, feature artist demonstrations, workshops, artist talks and nocturnal painting over the long weekend of 25-27 September. Please see the Plein Air Down Under website for full program details.
Five internationally recognised artists – Herman Pekel, Lyn Diefenbach, Leon Holmes, Val Brooks and Sue Hibbert – will be featured throughout the festival. Visitors and art lovers will be able to watch up close as they weave their magic on the canvas, then move between the many professional and amateur artists painting throughout each day.
The festival is free for spectators to attend. Artists wanting to paint can register at Plein Air Down Under.
“Plein Air Down Under 2020 was up there with the best of the international ‘plein air’ festivals I’ve attended. It had the spirit of community and excitement in the artists that reminded me of that cloud I couldn’t get down from after I first attended Ireland’s ‘Art in the Open Festival’ – I’m so happy to see so many smiles on so many faces.” – Leon Holmes, Co-Founder of Plein Air Down Under
“An outstanding outdoor painting festival, notable for its unique take on one of the largest movements in art history.” – Artshub
