The Livelighter World Music 2023 concert series showcases a diversity of high-quality music and dance from around the globe at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre. Enjoy these free Sunday afternoon sojourns featuring some of our top multicultural talent.
Esfandiar Shahmir is a highly talented Persian musician from Iran, who plays the ney (flute) and daf (hand drum). Since moving to Australia a decade ago, he has performed with several quality world music groups, including the award-winning Kohesia Ensemble, Eastwinds, and Tara Tiba, and regularly tours throughout Australia for Música Viva. For this show, Esfandiar will perform a selection of improvisational folk music from Iran, Azerbaijan and Armenia, and will be joined by Kiera Gunn on harp, Kate Pass on double bass, and Steve Richter on percussion.
