Maitland Hill is a Nyoongar man born in the country wheat belt town of Pingelly and spent his childhood and youth in the city of Armadale.

Big family gatherings were very special times for Maitland, travelling to places like Boddington and having family gatherings. Many happy times were also spent staying in Bannister and in Boddington with many uncles, aunts, brothers, sisters and cousins. Maitland is a self-taught artist whom was looking for guidance on how to refine his artwork, to make a more sustainable practice.
