Livelighter World Music Concert: Tchega
Our recent Livelighter World Music concert was a true celebration of culture, rhythm and community spirit, with a packed audience turning out to enjoy the vibrant sounds of Tchega. Bringing the rich musical traditions of the Indian Ocean islands of Mauritius, Réunion and Seychelles, the group filled the theatre with the lilting sway of Creole folk rhythms, blending African, French, Indian and Asian influences into an irresistible island groove.
Led by the charismatic Carole Katz, whose warm vocals and graceful dance brought an effortless joy to the stage, Tchega’s performance had the crowd on their feet, clapping, moving and smiling together. The atmosphere was electric yet relaxed, with the spirit of connection and cultural exchange flowing through the room. It was a wonderful reminder of how music unites us, and the energy of the afternoon will be remembered as a highlight of our free World Music concert series.
