Face Value Exhibition Opening – A Celebration of Courage and Community
The opening of Face Value was nothing short of inspiring. What began as an anonymous exhibition took a heartfelt turn when the artist, Hayden chose to step forward and reveal his identity — encouraged by the incredible support of friends, family, support workers, and his broader network.
The event drew a fantastic crowd, including members of our local painting group from the Art of Wellbeing program, all there to celebrate his talent and bravery. His portraits — surreal, abstract, and deeply expressive — capture more than faces; they reflect the courage it takes to share something personal with the world.
This journey began when his support staff first shared a sketchbook filled with compelling line-art portraits. With encouragement and collaboration, those private sketches grew into a full exhibition, showcasing the therapeutic and healing power of art.
We are honoured to have witnessed not just the unveiling of an exhibition, but the embracing of an artist’s voice.
Face Value runs until Friday 22 August in the Community Bank Halls Head Mezz Arts Space. Open Monday to Friday, 10am–5pm.
Special thanks to Community Bank Halls Head, Art of Wellbeing, and Midway for making this exhibition possible.
